Advertising advertising.

It's always difficult to come up with an ad for yourself. Agencies always seem good at identifying what's good about their clients, but usually freeze when it comes to advertising themselves.

Nut and Chin obviously don't have that problem: they've produced a pretty decent ad for McCann, finished last week.

Word has it that the brain used in the shoot was a real pig's brain. It smelt so bad, the stylist threw up on set... lovely. Our thanks go out to the pig for making the ultimate sacrifice for our cause.

British beauty, American ad, Thai agency.

Nice ad for Boots USA... the line is 'British beauty in America.' A good way to look like you're using celebrities to endorse you, without actually doing so...

Three trees.

As promised, the full Rising Sun campaign. Witty and clever, and sure to be seen again soon at an award show near you.

Two kinds of balls.

Football. And chairball. Mccanners ably demonstrated their athletic prowess this year, performing creditably in both sporting disciplines. Most people agreed that yesterday was the best part of the season: when the prize money was distributed from both championships.

The need to ask permission.

Why marketers will have to be more humble in the modern age.
From Mark's weekly article.

No less an authority than The Econmoist recently stated that 'the era of mass media is ending and the new era of intimate media has begun.' Tosh. The magazine was referring to the growth of online blogs (of which there are now millions) and proposing them supplanting traditional media avenues as the principal way of communications in the future. This is a superficial analysis.

Really, really, really, really, really good ads.

Two really, really (etc) good ads. The Rising Sun Fertiliser ad is part of a great campaign, which we'll put up soon, but this one is definitely the best of the bunch. The Acuvue ad is genius too. These are destined to win awards all over the place.

Our blog.

Hello.

Welcome to the McCann Bangkok blog. A space where we can express ourselves, show everybody else what we're working on, formulate advertising theories, make suggestions, write essays or articles, post particularly incriminating photos of party antics, give notice of upcoming drinks, post layouts we did that never got produced, share great ideas we've had or that we've seen elsewhere, share tips for great lunch spots near the agency, comment on what other people have done... whatever you want.

Anybody and everybody is free to contribute: in fact the more people who do, the better this will be. There are no rules, and it doesn't have to be about work: it can be about anything you want relating in any way, shape or form to McCann Bangkok, work-related or otherwise.

To put up a post, just send it: words, jpegs, mpegs, links: to Khun Nae via the agency email, and we'll do the rest.
